My Bluetooth/Airport connector dislodged and stuck inside the socket

Hi, something weird happened to me. My bluetooth/airport flex connector broke apart where it connects into the socket. The whole docking part is now left within the socket and the flex cable now has just the leads and not that plastic box docking part. Is there any way to dislodge the connector from the socket without it being attached to the flex cable?

in this picture, you can see the bluetooth/airport socket and the flex cable part stuck within. I have no clue how to remove it. I tried using tape, it doesn't work. There is no space between the socket and the connector to insert something to jimmy it out.

Does anyone think that if create a barb out of a needle, then heat that needle and lodge it into the center part of the male piece that connects into the socket, that I can get the piece to dislodge this way? .

Again, as with your other question... I'm guessing that since you have this issue...and you're posting on here that you have good access to a solid, workable device.

If so... You are going to need to remove the logic board, plain and simple. You are going to need a set of the smaller phillips head screw drivers as well as some torx screw drivers... likely T5 or T6.

Also, iFixit has a few great repair kits.

I've had to do this multiple times with multiple notebooks. I suggest 100% to get a kit that has the static wrist band. Other than that... use a bit of common sense to be careful with the board... and you'll be fine. It's really not as difficult as we make ourselves think that it is.

It's best to make a diagram of what went where, including screws, if this is your first logic board removal.

What do I need to do to actually remove or dislodge that connector from the socket? If you look at the photo attached, you can see behind the cable for the optical drive, there is this black thingy that with metal leads (it's on the left, and below the fan). Those exposed leads were once physically attached to the flex cable, but I guess the bonding agent dried up and it's now not?

HOLY CRAP! Is that the end piece of the ribbon that runs across the top of the optical drive?

If so, you should be able to take something similar to the guide in step 11. They are lifting the piece you have broken on step 14, but you can see the tool better in step 11.

You'll need to pry/wiggle that sucker up and off of there.

Given that the lip that was on the underside of that ribbon is gone... you may need to grab some Gorilla Glue... and something fat to set just on top of it. Make sure to have a dab on the left and the right. Once that has time to cure... you should be able to wiggle it up and off. I would still make sure to try to wedge it off while wiggling the now attached piece.

I normally wouldn't suggest such a thing... but you are going to need to replace that ribbon and the male piece that has been left attached to your logic board.

I'm a couple of years late to the party but I have the same issue with a 13 inch Macbook Pro (Early 2011). I tried super gluing the flat end of a spudger to the part of the flex cable stuck in the socket on the logic board to no avail. There's just not enough surface area to stick to. Eventually managed to (very carefully) pry it out using the stanley knife provided in the iFixit Classic Pro Tech Toolkit. Got a new flex cable on order arriving tomorrow. Will let you know if the repair worked or not.
