After quite high fall overheating of phone causes battery drain.

Hey,

I had my phone in protection case so there is not much of visible consequences but anyway, It fell from a balcony, so about 8feet high.

What I noticed first was that my battery drains much faster than before. The reason is probably that phone started to overheat. I open it up and check where the heat is comming out and it is where the logic board is.

I tried restore, DFU mode, ... but nothing helped.

Firstly, I did not get so hot when connected to flash cable, but lately It does.

I am assumming, that there is a problem with logic board. But I am not sure.

What do you recommend to do? I also tried to take out the battery and connect the phone to cable, because I read somewhere that this is the way to reset logic board.

Any other advices?

Thank you very much,

Al

aljazko, it is possible that you have a failed component on your logic board. anything heating up is usually indicative of a shortcircuit. I would suggest that you start with a new battery and then re-evaluate. Check for problems with the two components in the image, after you change the battery. You should also consider replacing the lightning port.

I am eternally grateful :) but still I would like to ask one question. Is it possible that because of the fall battery gets damaged?

And if the there is a problem with logic board (the two components), do I have to change the whole logic board or there is other solution?

Thank you!

That will depend on what you find. I always start with a new battery because it can be damaged relatively easy. of course, it is also possible that you have knocked of a component etc. that is why it is important to start with a "known-good" part. In this case the battery and then work from there. If it is a part on the board, it an be repaired through microsoldering, but it will depend on what and where it is.

It came to the point, that phone doesn't charge anymore. When I connect it to power, I can only see apple. It doesnt enter the IOS. While connected, stays in loop of showing apple and not, showing and not... Tomorrow I will get a new battery, so I will be able to try it. but anyway I am wondering if that is a sign that battery is defective? Thanks

Exact same thing happened to my phone after falling down and after replacing the battery the phone is working fine... it has been one week after replacing the battery and the problem appears to have been resolved
