Key dead, can I take a look inside?

Hi, I just get a Macbook with the "M" key dead. I remember that in this kind of keyboard its not really smart and easy take off a key to clean it or see whats happening.

There is a way to open it up to take a look/clean inside?

What I mean if its possible to open the keyboard itself (after removing the topcase) to clean the keyboard contacts up, or if the only thing to do its to replace the entire keyboard part with a new one...

There is no need to take the topcase off, since the keyboard isn't accesible from underneath. If its just a cleaning job you can pop off the keycap and try your luck. Video showing the process here. Mostly dead keys are the result of a spillage and require the exchange of the whole topcase.

I had a really similar keyboard with a imac and taking off the key cap doesnt help, but maybe it is possible to full dismantle, cleand and go back, like in the link taylor posted...

I see videos of keyboard removal off the topcase and its possible to buy one in Ebay instead of changing the entire topcase, anyways I thaugh maybe I can try to clean the layers or something...

Unfortunately, we don't have a guide to open the keyboard up once you've removed the top panel. I did find some instructions on another site on how to strip a 17" Macbook down to the keys, hopefully yours is similar enough for this to be of some use.

thanks, at least I see thats possible to full dismantle the keyboard layers and put all together and working again, I will love to know any tips to clean they and stuff.
