I have an S5 that I dropped and NOTHING visible was damaged on the phone but the screen won't come on and Sprint is telling me that it needs a new screen. Sound accurate? I have gone through all kinds of steps I found online but nothing works. Here's one link I tried:https://www.technobezz.com/fix-samsung-g...

Thanks for the advice. I thought it was the end of my S5 after I dropped it. Your advice did it and working fine now.

You have probably damaged the display or the force from the drop disconnected the flex cable that attached it.

Check the display carefully for damage if you can't see any then it may need reconnecting, I've seen it happen before on Samsung Galaxy S5's.

There is a little crack, but i don't think this damaged the whole display. . How can i reconnect the flex cable that attached it if i can't remove the cover ?

da

If there is a crack in the display it is broken and will need replacing. You lift the display up from the front using heat and a lot of patience. Youtube for videos.

da

If there is Crack on the display it can't be fixed without replacing it? Because the screen is half the prize.

da

Hello Serge. Even if you are able to see a 1mm crack in the display, that confirms the OLED is damaged beyond any usage. If you crack an LCD, say in an iPhone, LG, Sony, etc, often part of the display will function, which the cracked area will show only lines. OLED panels like the one in you A5 fail completely as soon as an part cracks. I am sorry to say that unplugging the display flex and reconnecting it will not improve the situation.

mine has a little crack and only half of the screen canmake sounds. Is that fixable?

If you dropped your S5 phone and have a black screen (phone still appears to work, but nothing appears on screen). Turn it off, take out the battery. And squeeze the upper right corner ( watch a disassembly video for the precise location) to reconnect the cable to the screen. After a lot of stress and almost deciding to spend a lot of money on a new screen this fixed it in about a minute.

Yess!

Thank you Walrave.

I squeezed the upper right corner(by the front facing camera) of my S5 mini. No hard pressure was even needed. Screen was dead after phone was dropped.

da

YES!!!!! thank you! So easy! I took off the back cover, removed the battery. I immediately squeezed the upper right corner, but batter back in, put cover back on, and voila! Phone powered up and is fine.

da

Thank you for the advice. It worked..

da

@walrave oh lord i extra registered here to thank you! i got an Galaxy S5 which had this problem, and it really worked! many thanks for that!

da

Thank you. I knocked my wife's phone off her nightstand and the screen went black. Squeezed the the panel behind the front facing camera and felt a little click and when I put the battery back in it worked! You kept me out of the doghouse!

There are three ways for you fix Samsung with black screen of death, you can try to wipe the cache partition; perform the master reset and using a broken Android data extraction

Way 1: Wipe the cache partition

If the problem occurred after an update, then try to wipe the cache partition to delete the caches and be replaced with new ones. Here’s how…

Turn off your Galaxy Note 5.

Press and hold the following three buttons at the same time: Volume Up key, Home key, and Power key.

When the phone vibrates, release the Power key but continue to press and hold the Volume Up key and the Home key.

When the Android System Recovery screen appears, release the Volume Up and Home keys.

Press the Volume Down key to highlight ‘wipe cache partition.’

Press the Power key to select.

When the wipe cache partition is complete, ‘Reboot system now’ is highlighted.

Press the Power key to restart the device.

Way 2: Perform the master reset

Should the problem persists after wiping the cache partition, then you have no other option but to reset your phone. It might be a serious firmware issue and you need to have everything wiped off and build up your phone from scratch again.

Remove your Google account and disengage the screen locks to make sure you won’t trip the Factory Reset Protection (FRP).

Turn off your Samsung Galaxy Note 5.

Press and hold the Volume Up, Home and Power keys together.

When the device powers on and displays ‘Power on logo’, release all keys and the Android icon will appear on the screen.

Wait until the Android Recovery Screen appears after about 30 seconds.

Using the Volume Down key, highlight the option, ‘wipe data/factory reset’ and press the Power key to select it.

Press the Vol Down button again until the option ‘Yes — delete all user data’ is highlighted and then press the Power key to select it.

After the reset is complete, highlight ‘Reboot system now’ and hit the Power key to restart the phone.

My Samsung A5 fell down and then had a black screen, i was getting calls but the screen was blacked out. I squeezed the upper right corner(by the front facing camera) of my A5. No hard pressure was even needed. I heard a light click sound and then the screen came alive, i restarted the phone and the original colors were set right.

@Nico van Rensburg Thanks
