My computer chimes, but there is no display.
My computer chimes, but the display remains black. I've plugged in an external display, but there is no display there either. Any suggestions?

It's your VGC
and it's on the logic board. This is a very expensive repair ~$500.00 just for the logic board. It's not a good place for a DIY to start fixing computers.
Might be smarter to part out the box and put the $ towards a new machine.
