Wont charge, keeps flashing and disappering?

My Samsung Galaxy 4 tablet wont charge. I plugged it in and the battery sign appears but it wont start charging. It either freezes on the battery sign or the sign appears and disappears. The tablet is off. Wont turn on. When I try to turn it on, it turns off quickly and the battery sign appears.

da

da

why does a phone charger work but now the one that's made for it?

da

What size is the screen? The Tab 4 comes in a 7" and a 10.1" version?

Have you tried a different cable or try moving the connection around carefully to see if the charging port is broken you can also try a reset. Power button and volume down button at the same time till it says its resetting

I'm having this problem only with two replacement batteries I ordered. Is this a known issue? Can it be fixed or is it time for a return?

da

I have a galaxy tab I'm repairing for a client. I had the same issue as above with the power flickering and then shutting off. I tried a new micro cable and it fixed the issue. Thanks for the suggestion as I didn't realize this cable was damaged.

Firstly, the battery is not holding a sufficient charge to boot because the LCD screen is constantly turning on. This causes a tremendous drain on the battery for a split second, if your battery is completely dis-charged like mine then you will never get ample charge into the battery for it to turn on hence why the screen keeps failing.

1. Open the back cover.

2. You will see 3x vertical ribbon cables. Carefully remove the on on the right, it is marked LCD (Convenient)

3. Plug your charger in and leave it to charge for at least 8 hours. (Use the wall socket adapter, it produced more current than a USB port on your computer) Now that the battery is not being drained constantly by the display the battery will have a chance to get some juice into it.

4. After you have left it to charge for some time unplug your charger (Crucial) , re-insert the ribbon cable for the LCD you removed making sure that it is in all the way so that the lines on the ribbon and the board are aligned.

5. Power on.

If it boots great. If not it may be time to purchase and replace the battery ($25 on eBay) and make sure that your charger has enough power to keep it charged and at 100% while in use. Beware of leaving any Li-Ion battery fully discharged for a long period

Good luck!

Same problem is with my Samsung but my phone has some battery left. It was not charging , so I tried to charge it through switching it off and then it's kept flashing and disappearing. So, I switched it on and then i connected charger slowly, it's started charging.

And That's meaning charging port of mobile is broken.

da

This worked for me! I accidentally unplugged the touch screen ribbon though instead of the LCD. Looks like my battery was/is shot and was near zero %. I imagine it only has a few charges left on it before it's completely toast. Will eventually replace the battery.

Thanks Gavin!

da

I can't do that with my samsung tab because you can't open up mines help what can I do

da

This worked for me. I had replaced charging port but still wouldn't charge. This did the trick. Keep it charged from now on. Thanks Gavin.

da

I have a samung tab 18.4 and when the wall charger is plugged in, it continues to beep on and off, and the charging display also goes on and off. I bought a new charger, and problem still exists. I called Samsung help desk and they told me to take it to best buy and let them look at it. You pay all this money and nobody there knows or cares that your frustrated.

I found out on my Samsung galaxy tab 2 10.1. That the hard drive is bad so I have to get a new mother board since the hd is integrated onto the MB. Ugh

da

if you're charging your tablet with your computer it will cause that to happen too, switch to a normal charging source

I had the same issue. This might sound weird but this is how I solved it. I tried all the different button combinations didn't work. While trying the combinations I realised the tablet felt cold. Kept the tablet against my body while charging for about half a hour while watching a movie on laptop. Body heat seemed to have warmed it enough to start charging. Suppose you could try other warming methods.

Right now it sounds like you are having battery issues. what is the voltage/amperage of the phone charger you are using? If you do not have that written on the charger, what model is the charger?

You just said it right on the dot. It's a battery shortage. Both of my Samasungs did it and I refuse to get another one. They are both from Sprint bc I was eligible to get "Free tablets" and both did it within less than 3 months. It's aggravating and for whatever reason it's all android or Samsung products that always had issues with batteries bc my LGs and Samsung phones had the same issues with the batteries. I honestly think and believe when they say you're getting a new phone and tablet they give you refurbished ones bc my "brand new iPhone 6s I got from the actual store physically already had a dent on the back and th tablet had a scratch but they claimed it was brand new. So why am I having a software issue with my iPhone 6s if it's brand new? There're all a bunch of crock...thinking of switching providers now

The last time I used the tablet was about 4 years ago. Needless to say, the battery was completely drained. I plugged it into a charging cable connected to an iPhone 2.1A charger but the display just kept on flashing. Hmm. I then connected it to a wall charger with the same result. I was 100% convinced it had to do with the power supply not being strong enough. The 2.1A output may not be true 2.1A. I then switched to a portable battery charger with 5V 2.1A output and voila, the Samsung Tablet is now charging as it should. The display stopped flashing, and it shows a battery with a small green line at the bottom indicating it is charging.

I had the same problems. Wouldn't charge, screen kept turning itself off. I pulled the back off and disconnected the battery and could see that 3 of the 6 copper teeth on the motherboard (that the battery connector plugs into) had come off the motherboard and stuck themselves to the connector. No way to remove them without destroying them so I stacked two pieces of cutup old credit on top of the battery connector and snapped the cover back on. It's pretty tight in there already, so the additional pressure was enough to keep the connector pressed hard into the motherboard and the power connection complete. No more problems. Won't last forever, but it'll do the trick until I can sort something else out.

Thanks Byron, your solution works for me.

da

Byron, you're a genius! I had the same problem, battery charging icon blinking and not charging. I checked the battery connectors and realised for some reason that they seemed to be pushed back into the phone more than was necessary. Seems not all were making solid contact with the battery and hence the blinking. I simply pushed them out gently, using a pin, put back the battery and voilà, phone is now functioning 100% . All this after buying different chargers and changing batteries countless times!! Thanks again for your insight!!

The Battery connector might be loose, open the back cover and Solder it to make sure it is connected properly...

If the problem still persist then change the battery...

It should work...

Good Luck...

It's pretty unlikely to be your charger. Get some compressed air into the charge port on the phone - it could just be dust. However, it's most likely loose contact in their rather than dust. Which is pretty much game over. You can get around it temporarily by very slowly moving the cable until you find the angle the contact is best made at. Then placing whatever you need to under the cable to when you place it down to keep that connection angle (pens, deck of cards, whatever). I charged a tablet for months, upside down, with it's weight holding the port connected. But otherwise, there's no fix for it. Start looking for a new phone. And buy one with qi charge sop you never have to worry about it again.

Try cleaning the charger port with a paperclip- pick out any dust bunnies in there, and if needed carefully scrape the metal connectors. That worked for me.

I stripped off the insulation from my charger down to bare wire and hooked up jumper cables attached to my Lexus and cranked it. The phone popped but it still won’t come on. The Lexus is ok. It starts now, but not the phone. I think the phone is broken. Will check the warranty, but the phone is getting old. Probably from about 2000. But, I did purchase a lifetime warranty when I bought it from Cingular.

I have a Samsung Tab a10.1 and after not using it for a while and putting it to charge, the lightning/charging symbol came up but after a few seconds the screen started to flicker a lot. I tried two cables. Both connected to the USB front of my PC. Turns out it worked when I used the normal power plug and into the power outlet.

Mine was Galaxy A03 Core and it was completely dead. When I charge it in, it stays on the lightning bolt screen and after a few minutes, it flickers off and then back on. After it flickers too many times, the screen turns black and I can't do anything about it. Any help?

Hi! If it's completely dead, the battery won't be able to keep the charge icon on. So it will just keep feeding the screen instead of the battery. You'll need to open the case, disconnect the screen and then charge the battery. I don't know if that's possible with your model, but that's the only solution I know.

Was your issue with the A03 Galaxy Core fixed @klasky678?

The battery does not receive the charge. Someone tried to heat the battery surface with a hair dryer by about 10 minutes. This worked for me. You need to heat the battery. Then plug the charge.
