My new screen works, except after sleep

I installed a new display and it works great, except once it goes to sleep. After this everything is gray. When the computer is dimmed to black or goes to screensaver everything is fine but once the computer actually goes into sleep mode the screen will not display an image until you restart the computer. I did install a new hybrid drive at the same time so I can't fault isolate it to either piece but I'm fairly positive the drive had nothing to do with this at all. Then again anything could be possible so any help would be appreciated.
