Why are my photos blury?
Canon Power Shot SD850 IS. Why are my photos now blury? Could it be that the battery needs replacemnt?

It sounds more like a lens related issue, but Canon had some issues with this camera. At one time there was a money back offer from Canon because this camera was 'not of merchantable quality.' Even if the camera was out of warranty. So in this case, anything goes from firmware to logic board to bad chipset. It all depends how far you want to go with trying to repair it.

David G Johnson, this would not be battery related. Has anything happened to the camera that may have caused your lens to be disrupted. i.e. drop etc? Do all the images come out blurry (up close, far, zoom )?

You are correct. A new battery did not solve the problem. The lense is complete extended. When I turn on the camera, there is a whinning sound that stops rather quickly after 2 seconds. The lense remains extended. This combined with the blury view on the screen is starting to suggest that it is hopeless to think that this camera can be fixed. Please advise given this info. Is this camera now DOA?
