hi all,
I have an iphone 4s that has worked flawless for the last 3 years. While driving the iphone shut down and i have not been able to power it back on.
things i tried
-hard reset
-no evidence of water damage
-will not turn on while pluged into wall
-computer will not reconize that anything is plugged in.
do you think the logic board died or maybe a simple battery problem?
any simple tricks i can do with a multimeter?

Do you get any response at all from plugging the charger in? (like the little battery symbol that should come up on the screen?)
Have you tried other cables and charging plugs?
Do you know what the state of charge was at the time your phone died?
First thing I would do is take the back off and disconnect the battery (be careful not to pull up the battery connector soldered to the motherboard)
Reconnect the battery, then try and power it on - anything? how about a response to being plugged in now?
Get your multimeter on those battery terminals and see if theres any power at all. It needs to be about 3.6 - 3.7v to power on the phone - much lower than this and you won't even get the low battery signal you can sometimes see if you try to power it on.
If it is down this low, and won't charge, you likely just need a new battery..... Try these things and come back with an update.

No response with charging cable (verified working on iPad.
But yes also tried another cable no response.

Sounds like you have a possible hardware issue. I would try a new dock connector and possibly a new battery.

I got a new battery but still no luck.
Cleaned out the dock connector really well.
Noticed that when charging phone gets warm.
