Bosch Dishwasher SHE65T55UC-X01 smells and molds plastic

Bosch Dishwasher SHE65T55UC-X01

Why does my dishwasher smell and mold my plastic?

I've had the same rotten smell problem, as many posted, after purchasing a stainless steel Bosch over a year ago. Smells like rotten garbage and my plastic dishes (pre-rinsed or not) get black mold after only one day in washer. The stink is even when only 4 or 5 items are in the washer. The vinegar and dw cleaners work for a couple of days; then stench returns. Reps came to look at it a few times during first year and adjusted temp. They recommended NOT rinsing and running it daily ! (Now how does that rate as energy saving ?) Nothing works. I've read all comments about P trap and loop. Our double sink has T configuration and the P trap is under the floor (basement ceiling) rather than under the sink. The dishwasher hose is looped mid-sink level. Note, however, this problem never existed with old dishwasher with same plumbing set up. Odors disgusting. Ruining my plastic too and wondering how much unnoticed mold we're consuming too. Any help please?

The bottom screen and filters can be removed as we always do still an odor well I disassembled the inside vertical water supply and you talk about crud under the vertical wash supply and 2 screws then it snaps out and 1/4" of greasy smelly crud no one can get to unless dissembling . Worked on it about a good half hour. Ran two cycles and no more odor!

First pull the filter and possibly replace it. Here's the part: http://www.repairclinic.com/PartDetail/B...

Next I would replace the check value that keeps drained water from seeping back into the machine.

In one year I had to replace two diswashers in two houses. One is a Bosch and the other is an LG. They smell disgusting. This has more to do with how they are made. My previous Kenmore lasted 16 years and NEVER smelled like puke. These machines are cheaply made. I am assuming less insulation? The hotter the day outside the worse the smell is.

ok barring any problems with the waste pipe set put some hydrogen peroxide through it it will kill any bacteria ,they use it in industrial washers !

So the initial cause of the mold is not your fault in most cases with the Bosch brand. They come with mold in them from the factory due to a flaw in their testing process which is to not completely dry the unit before it is sealed up, shipped, and sits in a warehouse for weeks or months. Once there is mold in you unit, you CANNOT EVER get rid of it completely. Mold spores require some pretty heavy duty sterilization (usually with chlorine bleach) to kill them. You can't use bleach in your dishwasher without destroying the rubber seals and parts. Once the mold starts, you are hooped. You'll never get rid of it. All you can ever hope to due is control it by always using the SANITIZE cycle and never closing the door. Even then, it is tough.

Bosch is notorious for this. Bought mine at HomeDepot and after I returned the first one, the sales person admitted that it is a problem with 3 out of 4 Bosch units. (nice of them to tell me after the fact.)

When you first unpack your dishwasher, open it up. If you see ANY residue at all....IT IS MOLD! Water dries clear and does not leave any visible residue on the stainless steel. IF you see ANYTHING. SEND IT BACK!

We bought a Bosch replacing a dishwasher that we had for 20 years (no smell unless it was days of not running with dirty dishes). The Bosch started smelling within a couple of weeks. We purchased through BB and had them visit over 3 different times (once they reran some hoses that they thought were causing it). After our three attempts after that, we contacted Bosch and filed a complaint. They are finally saying they will buy it back from us for what we paid. We have to wait for them to come uninstall it and bring check with them, but finally we will get to move on. I literally have to stop myself from heaving when someone opens it up if I'm around. I'd never have thought that it could be so bad.

We eliminated the stinky smell in our Bosch dishwasher by switching detergent from Costco to Finish. It was not a incorrectly installed drain or any left behind food particles in the drain system.

Problem Solved...

We received a BOSCH 500 Series from my brother after he was having problems with it.

We noticed a BAD smell after a couple days left unattended and noticed water was at the upper level of the filter screens in the base. We tried vinegar and baking soda but no permanent solution.

I pulled out all the screens and found the stainless steel micro-screen cylinder shaped filter had a whitish coating on the inside (not seen earlier). It created a surface tension which held up to a couple cups of water that turned putrid from that whitish residue. We brushed that all clean, put it back together and now the pump clears all the water from the bottom of the dishwasher.

Also, I've read higher end BOSCH dishwashers now have a feature that pops the door open to allow drying out of the inside to reduce moisture in the warm insides which can promote bacterial growth.

So now we also flip down the filler door for Rinse Aid and that holds the door open just enough to allow for the drying out of the inside after a wash.

We've never have a problem since. Hope this helps...

Problem Solved !

Like most here, My new Bosch dishwasher (7-2021) cheapest one ) smells bad
Checked the drain hose.. nothing wrong
Checked the screen ...Clean as new.. I always pre-rinse my dishes even though they say not to ????
Ran Vinegar through it to kill any mold.. still not right.
Then I studied the smell and thought it smelled like the small packages of soap you are supposed to use
Hooray !
The soap makes it stink.
I went back to Cascade powder soap and Wallah. NO SMELL !

its there recommended soap packages !
