internal HDD not recognized after upgrade to 1TB

HI,

I followed the instructions to replace my 500GB internal HDD in my Time Capsule, and it worked find.

However, when i brought it up, it would not recognize its own internal HDD.

The instructions from iFixIt said something about airport utility which i found under my \Applications\utility folder... but nowhere does it mention anything about formatting the HDD, or anything like that.

How can i make the internal HDD recognizable by the Time Capsule?

Would reset to factory setting do the trick?

Should i have formatted the 1TB HDD before inserting it in the Time Capsule? if so what formatting?

if any above is needed, then please update the iFixIt instructions, it could save one some headache :)

thanks for your help..

Format the drive OSX Extended. Use Applications -> Utilities -> Disk Utility.

Thanks for responses... I was trying to avoid opening time capsule again, so i bit he bullet and took the disk out. it is a Hitachi Drive. I also plugged in the older TC drive in an external bay and duplicated the partition setting, i.e. 3 partitions, with GUID option. and now i am still in cloning the old drive over the new one... it has taken 6 hours to get to this point and i think i have 2 more. i am in the middle of verification now.

i will update this post if i have success, otherwise, i will post a question :)

Looks like it worked as we haven't heard back from you. Glad you got it fixed.

Where did you buy the HDD from? If it's from iFixit or some other vendors it'll already be in the proper format. You should also check to make sure that the HDD is properly connected.

ok, everything works well now.

- I plugged in the original drive(500GB) and the replacement drive (1TB) in the same laptop so i can see them both in the "\Application\Disk Utility"

- I partitioned and formatted the Replacement Drive exactly as that of the original drive. (APconfig, APswap, and a "Fawzi's Time Capsule")

- i downloaded "Carbon copy" a program that does clones HDD and cloned the original over the replacement, one partition at a time.

- the above took 4 hours of cloning and 4 hours of verification ...tooo long.

thanks all for viewing
