Screen slightly scratched, send it to Nintendo or fix it by myself?

Top screen is slightly scuffed up leaving a transparent scruffy spot on the screen. Very small but slightly distracting. If I were to do replace the screen on my own would it be difficult? Are there any ways to easily damage the system while repairing?
