I'm trying to revive my old ipod from years ago. It stopped working when it decided to go for a swim one day. I suspect changing the battery is all that needs to be done and then it will be back to life. Are there any other additional repairs that may need to be done to fix the water damage from years ago??

Jeffrey Lang, before you invest anything you want to take a look at it. see how much corrosion has developed over a few years. So go ahead an using these guides. Check for corrosion. If unsure, post some images of what you find with your question. At minimum you will have to replace the battery and I am certain the hard drive as well. Hard drives do not tolerate water at all.

There very well could be damaged internal components besides the battery connection. At the very least it need to be inspected for any corrosion on any metal and connectors then subsequently cleaned.
