How can I bring my iPhone 6 back from the dead?

Approximately 4 weeks ago my phone took a very brief (2s) plunge into my pool. I immediately took it inside and performed the following:

1. turned the phone off

2. opened up and removed camera, logic board, vibrator and speaker.

3. cleaned off all connectors and placed logic board in isopropyl bath.

4. thoroughly inspected assembly under a microscope (unable to inspect under shielding on logic board).

5. dried assembly with hair dryer

I reassembled the phone and everything appeared to be in working order except for the rear facing camera (front facing was working). After 4 weeks of the phone working fine, it suddenly died. Zero response at all. Will not charge (doesn't warm up at all), not detected by iTunes or PC and none of the software reset tricks have worked. I ordered a new battery for the phone as it seemed like the phone just wasn't getting power and I assumed the water invasion eventually shorted the battery as it was one component I did not attempt to clean. I installed the new battery yesterday and there was no change - still dead. I realize that this is most likely a lost battle however I wanted to know if anyone has any other ideas to try. Are there any on board fuses that I could check? If the camera or dock connector are "failed" will that cause these symptoms? My fear is that it's the power management IC on the logic board... but I'm stubborn and want to keep trying.

I've read several "water damage" responses and all of them point to removing the shields on the logic board. This will be my next task although I really don't believe any water made it to those locations. The plunge was very brief and I was very quick to open the phone - but I suppose until I look under them I can't say for sure that they are clean.

Neal, start with the basics. Yes for a proper cleaning you do have to remove the EMI shields. It does not take long for the water to get across the whole board. Use these guidesto work on your phone. Use this guide for the cleaning. It was written for a 3G but all the points are pertinent to your phone as well. Once properly cleaned, replace the battery and in your case I would replace the lightning connector as well. While you are cleaning your board, check the SMD components for anything that appears burned missing etc. There is no fuse per se, but many of the components can act like this. Water damage is the toughest to diagnose since virtually any part may have failed.

The iphone 6 is a pesky device once it has encountered water. We are noticing high failure rates when the phone has been plugged into a charger before a proper cleaning (which includes removing the shields). More than likely what happened was that a component under a shield , which you didn't see has corroded and has a bridged connection. Even the best of the best are only doing ip6 water damage recovery as a data retrieval service , not a functional repair.

That said I have brought a few back and it requires painstaking cleaning, removing the shields, using a heated ultrasonic bath with electronics cleaner and microscope time. Assuming you get it to power back on which seems to be relatively easy, you may find the touch IC has shorted and will not function. There is not a cost effective repair for this.
