Hi Mark,
You need to contact iFixit support by E-mail. This here is a forum and the content is manned by volunteer contributors, not by iFixit themselves.
Anyhow, if you want to look for the source of the problem, we can try to help.
First, some history: why did you need to replace the charging dock to begin with?
2nd, I could be mistaken, but so far have not encountered extreme overheating caused by a dock connector. To rule it out, disconnect the dock connector and/or put back the old one. You still have that issue? Or try with a new known good one, may be by contacting iFixit, explaining the issue, and requesting a replacement.
3rd, and that's very likely to happen: you could have nicked something (some tiny components) partially or completely off the board around the battery connector and around the dock connector (where those 2 components connect to the board). You'll need to examine that area using good magnification (20x is good, more is better).
All this while assuming that the root of the problem did not exist before the repair, since at this point we know nothing about the history of that device such as hard drops, liquid spills, attempted repairs, abnormal behaviors, etc.
Good luck!
