iPhone not booting after battery replacement

Hi,

I just got an iPhone 5s for a battery replacement (not my first phone, repairing phones for work). After replacing the battery the phone just shows up the apple logo, for 10-15 seconds, then turns black/blue, with backlight turned on, after another 10 seconds it shuts down.

After further inspection I saw, that I damaged the lightning-port-connector next to the battery connector, so I got a new lightning-port-assambly, but after replacing this part, nothing has changed.

Some more testing I've done:

  • connecting the iPhone to power source lets it power on, but doesn't boot, too. (even with the broken lightning-port-assambly)
  • no DFU/Recovery Mode - phone doesn't show up on iTunes/Xcode(see comment below)
  • display assambly was removed during the battery-replacement
  • another battery - same problem

Thanks for your help!

After a complete dis- and reassembly (all connectors cleaned with isopropanol), the iPhone still won't boot, but is recognized by iTunes. iTunes says it needs a recovery but after doing this, the problem is the same.

Mine had the same problem after a battery change. I took it apart 3 times. The third time i removed the thumb button, battery and 3 cables to separate the screen. I looked at the connections and found a little piece of plastic had fallen into one of the sockets. I blew it out and used contact cleaner on all the sockets and plugs. Now she is working good and charging fine.

Sound like a long screw damage, did you maybe put the wrong screw in the wrong hole when you were putting on the LCD shield?

I don't think so, I'm quite sure the problem was before screwing the LCD shield.

I had the same issue with a 5s, but this one was a screen replacement. After trying out different lcds the problem was still there, it fixed by itself and we couldn't figure out why. What I would suggest is, connect everything back except the battery and leave it alone overnight. Next day connect the battery and plug in to charger it might have something to do with the logicboard holding some kind of charge

What part do I replace, the logic board?

The battery that you purchased either came faulty or the battery cable just got twisted and the battery power line happen to be broken internally. Upon such, you will have that issue. You can try with the original battery and see if you iPhone is in good health. I don't think that you discharged static over the logic board!

You can still return the battery if you believe that you didn't poke the battery cable and your iPhone boots up with the old battery. I suggest you to get better battery here. They are safely packaged and safely boxed.

You might have damaged a filter very near to the fpc battery connector of your logic board. Look closely (best with a microscope) if one of those tiny components got ripped check also the area where you doc connector fits into. A missing/ripped or damaged filter, can cause a phone to not boot properly or not at all.
