ASUS laptop X75A wifi signal drops off sometimes

ASUS Laptop will drop my wifi signal from time to time. I have comcast middle grade wifi service with newest modem/router in one unit. Laptop is in office at my home and all other computers always work fine as well as my Roku streaming.

I have updated my driver and uninstalled McAffee and seems to still give me issues from time to time. My modem sits within 4-5 feet of my laptop in home office. Thank you in advanced

At least once a day and other networks as well. Computer says local connection only. Also for some strange reason it says I have Windows NT not Windows 8. I bought it new with 8. Maybe it is in safe mode?
