I went to a Microsoft store, and they refused to accept my Xbox 360 because the tray doesn't open when there is no disc inside. I don't know how to fix it, and why it only doesn't work when the tray is empty. I need a solution before the trade in promotion ends, and I would prefer to not spend money on it just to trade it in. Thank you so much for any help.

OK, Fixed my own problem :D. For all of you who have the same problem, this is how you do it.
Open the tray, and hold it open while you unplug and turn the Xbox off.
Inside the building, you should see two wheels with a rubber band between them. Using tweezers carefully, take out the band.
Take a Q-Tip or two, clean off the inside and outside of the band.
Now use the Q-Tip to clean the wheels, you can spin the big wheel easily by moving the tray.
Now that you have cleaned the wheels, put the band on the wheels, and turn on the Xbox.
Your Xbox should be fixed now! Good luck!

what about when its a little open and will not close or open entirely?
