Why does my drive belt keep breaking on my rider
i replaced the drive belt on craftsman rider lt 1000 and it cut 80% of yard then belt started smoking then broke

Examine the belts to see where they are wearing. I suspect there may be a bent piece of metal impinging on the cable. Possibly bad springs. Let us know what you find. See if this video helps to correctly replace it:

Check to see if your pto clutch is sticking or even stopping during operation if so this will cause the belt to snap

I put a new belt on and it kept jumping off and I was slipping the belt under the plastic guard on the left side of the deck. After 3 times I felt a metal piece that is to hold the belt on the pulley under that plastic guard. I had been putting the belt over the metal piece, it would still turn the blade for awhile then jump off.
