MacBook Pro not powering up

I spilled a few drops of water on the keyboard area. At first the laptop was on and was working except for some of the keys on the keyboard. I then switched it off and tried to turn it on again. The laptop didn't respond to power button.

I tried the charger and when I plugged in, I only get the caps lock light showing on. Nothing else worked, when I removed charger, the caps lock light would go off.

I've reset the SMC without charger plugged in, and when I tried to power it on again, it didn't work. Only change was when I plugged in the charger, the caps lock indicator was off. I reset PRAM as well but to no avail.

At this point you'll need an external USB keyboard and will need to open the system up to disconnect the built-in keyboard ribbon cable. You then need to carefully short out the power pads to try to get the system to start.

Here's the IFIXIT guide to opening the bottom cover and locating the power pads: MacBook Pro 13" Unibody Late 2011 Logic Board Replacement. Follow it to Step 4 disconnecting the battery. Then jump to Step 11 to disconnect the ribbon cable. Now jump to Step 16 to locate the power pads. Looking at the photo you will note on the top edge of the system a Red circled screw and a large chip just to its right between them is the two square pads which you'll need to short out. But before you do you'll need to reconnect the battery or the power adapter and have the keyboard connected. It the system able to start now?
