Water damaged iPhone 5, repeated alcohol cleaning, LCD backlight poor
Hi
I submerged my phone in swimming water for six seconds. As I was on holidays, my only option was to power down and bag it in rice for a week.
When I returned, I stripped down the phone and cleaned logic board with 95% ethyl alcohol. I also scrubbed all connectors. I can see a possible short/ damage on the LCD/ Logic board connector, I cleaned the area thoroughly.
Everything on the phone was working fine when I booted back up after this, however the LCD was "dim" and not bright.
I stripped it down again and cleaned the connectors, however on the next boot up the LCD was worse. I repeated and again it got worse and now it is extremely poor.
Is this a backlight coil/ IC issue now and should I bother trying to fix considering potential long term damage from water?
Thanks for you time

Thanks for your response.
I will post a picture when I get home. The damage isn't getting worse so would that explain the continued deterioration?

Any chance you could repost some of your image. The motion blurr makes it look like that there are some pins missing.

Sorry Old Turkey. Thanks for your response. Those pics were after a lot of attempts!
Perhaps the pins may be missing. It is hard to tell with naked eye even.

If those are missing pins, you will need someone to resolder a new connector to the board. That may be the reason why your backlight is not working properly
