Switching LED backlights, can this fix dim and uneven brightness?

I have a Thinkpad X200S with a 1440x900 display, and a Thinkpad X201 with a 1280x800 display. I am using the 201 as my primary computer, but I'd like to pull the higher resolution screen from the older 200S.

I know I can switch out the entire lid assemblies between the two computers, but I'd also like to switch the LED lighting on each panel. The 1440x900 screen has, overall, dimmer backlighting and it is uneven. Notebookcheck has reviews on each laptop and the brightness regions match up well with what they describe on their site (the left, bottom left, and right regions of the 200S display are noticeably more dim than the rest of the display).

I'd simply like to know if switching the backlights from the X201, with its better lit display, into the higher resolution panel from the X200s will improve the X200S's panel's backlight, making it brighter with the light better distributed, or if there are factors I am not taking into consideration.

Notes:

-I checked the EDIDs of each display and looked up the models. There are no CCFLs here, just LEDs.

-I am 100% certain the lid assemblies can outright be switched on the two laptops. A buddy of mine has already done that, but he didn't go as far as switching the lighting on the panels themselves.

-This isn't strictly a repair question since nothing is broken, but I intend to get into all the nitty gritty insides of LCD screens, so I hope this question is okay.
