My phone screen is damaged by salt water?

I had left my phone in my pocket and had just remembered when I was hit by a small wave.

It wasn't submerged but some salt water still got in.

I went home and removed the battery then wiped away the water, and used a hair dryer to dry out the rest.

I left it in the open for 2 days before reassembling it.

I turned it on in the sun and I could barely see the apple logo.

I tryed turning the brightness up but there seemed to be no light coming from the screen so it was black at night, and was working but barely visible in the sun.

The screen isn't a apple made screen because I replaced it, the battery works fine along with all the other things but the screen isn't giving off light, do I need to replace the screen or is my logic board damaged?

swiftduststorm, could be corrosion on your LCD connector. You do need to clean it properly. Disassemble it using this guide and properly clean it. Use this guide to clean it. It was written for a 3G but all the points are still valid for your phone as well. Always check your board for any missing, burned or otherwise damaged looking components. After that replace the battery, reassemble your phone and re-evaluate for any problems. If you do not properly clean your phone now, it is very likely that you will run into some corrosion failure later on.

corrosion? but it was like that right after the wave hit me (and it was already turned on) I should also mention that the light wouldn't turn off right after it got hit by the wave,( its fine now) and the water detection sticker is still white.

also could it be the display thats the problem not the logic board or the connectors?

the bottom corner of the right connector for the display on the logic board looks a bit black and brown, so there is corrosion but is their another way to clean corrosion form a certain connector without having to soak your phone in isopropyl?

Yes, it is absolutely possible that it got shorted out as well. not saying that it is corrosion that killed the display. Yet. That it is why it is so important to clean it properly. It is possibly the LCD,components on the logic board that got shorted out, as well as the connector. Water damage is the most difficult to trouble shoot and to repair since virtually any part may have failed.

ok Im currently removing salt off the logic board with distilled water and then removing corrosion with alcohol to see if it works, and the battery seems to be working fine as well so would I need to replace it even if the water didn't get to that part of the phone? (white water detection) sticker and dry components

I prefer to change the batteries anytime there is a water issue:-)

ok one more question, is it safe to use a hair dryer to speed up the drying process instead of the rice?
