Replacing iMac firmware chip?
At this time I have the above machine that will not boot from any device.
When I try to boot, holding the power button down for an extended time, it gives a long beep which indicates the it is in the middle of a firmware upgrade, but if I leave it powered on for a long time the upgrade never completes.
So I think it need to have the firmware replaced (I was messing around with rEFIt when I started to have problems). My question is, how do I determine the logic board serial number so then I will know what type of firmware chip to purchase? Does anyone have any other suggestions?

john1726, contact places like this one. The companies that Dan is referring to are still around. Your EFI IC will be programmed according to your logic board number.

Thank you, OT! How do I find my logic board number?

It should be printed on the board itself something like 820-XXXX Based on your information about what computer you have,it could be a 820-2143-A

OK, it appears they do not have any in stock at this time based on the A1224 model number.
