New Logic Board not recognizing old HD

Recently replaced the logic board but original HD wasn't recognized even though there was indication of significant GB used, referring all photos, videos and music lumped together as 'other'. However, I have been unable to access any of it thru iTunes or in Finder as an extHD(all folders that appear are empty).

Will this always be the case with logic board replacement? Or does one have to use a data recovery service to extract files from HD before 'restoring' it. To circumvent that step and co$t, can one put the iPod in Target mode for a simple transfer dump?

Repair buddy needed, thnx.

This is your iPod? It worked before? You have had no issues syncing it before? What computer and OS are you using? Have you tried to check the hard drive with the diagnostics menu? Yes, you should back-up the hard drive before replacing the board. That way you can install the new firmware....

Yes it worked. I was just replacing battery but i accidentally broke the batt cable connector on board(it was seriously stuck in closed position and didnt release), couldnt resolder so had to buy new/refurbed board. Didnt BU before initial fix, however already edited iTunes music list so older music on iPod wont match w/last ITunes BU. Diagnostics merely indicated all iPod data is "other" and not accessible thru standard means.

Thnx for response. I welcome any other suggestions.

Cheers, SL
