The rectangular connector that attaches the hard disk data cable to the main logic board has separated, leaving me with the cable in one hand and the little rectangle with its surface mount pins in the other. I need to replace the cable.
Can anyone suggest a place to get a replacement for this cable?

Oh no! That is the worst!
I am unaware of someone who sells just the connectors. I believe your best bet is to check eBay for a cheap, broken logic board and carefully scavenge the connector.
Although these connectors have tiny solder beads (machine soldered), we have had some success with resoldering such connectors before (as as hobby, of course! We don't stock such parts).

Hi, I ended up finding someone selling the data cable on eBay for $28, shipped.
Just to be clear, the part that separated was the connector attached to the cable, not the one on the Main Logic Board. Therefore a simple cable replacement is all I needed, thank goodness! It would have been VERY bad if the connector had come off the logic board. This was just annoying, not disastrous. ;-)
