ylod fix, problem with replacing top cover

I recently did the procedure for the yellow light of death fix. When reassembling the ps3, I realized the top cover won't go all the way down in the front to make connection. This is even when screwed down. Did I make a mistake when putting it back together? What can I do to fix it?

I attempted turning the system on without the cover. It did power on and loaded, however it doesn't recognize the controllers and the disk won't eject. It looks like the initial problem was fixed, but now I have 3 more. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I'm going to take it apart again and reassemble it.
