Why is my camera not turning on?

My camera will not turn on when I press the ON/OFF button at the top of the device. What else can I do? I think my battery is charged but I don't really know how to tell.

The camera is not turning on because of a few possible issues. The battery is dysfunctional, misplaced, or you have not pressed down on the power button forcefully enough to turn it on. The guide for the battery can be found here: Charging the Battery and Battery Removal.
