Why will my computer not turn on?

My laptops keyboard went out in it so I stopping using it till I could get money to fix it but instead I bought a computer desk keyboard to use with it and when I plugged it in to turn on my lap top it would not turn on ive charged it all night and it says my charger is clnnected to it but it just does not want to come on can some one help me understand why it's not wanting to work all of a sudden?
