Shredder Motor Turns, Drive Failed, Suspect Gear Failure
I have a Staples SPL-TMC162A "Professional" shredder that has been in my house for a couple of years. A buttload of papers were passed through this device as I purge nearly all of my paper records (spanning more than 40 years) in favor of PDFs on the computer.
Yesterday I was shredding a few bits of the always accumulating direct mail when the drive failed suddenly. The motor turns fine but the grinder is not turning. I think this is a gear failure (probably broken tooth).
However, I have no idea where I can find parts for this unit. I hate to simply discard it if a simple repair can restore functionality. Does anyone have any knowledge of how I can even begin the process of finding replacement parts?
Thank you in advance!
Questa è una buona domanda?
I have the SPL-TMC162A need the waste bin called customer support they don't sell the parts so $300.00 shedder become junk. Never buy anymore Staples products. Customer Support lady was very nice told me sorry can't help you but will give you a discount on a new shedder 20 per cent if you buy a new one. Right like I'm going to get burned again.
