Incredibly weird reception and signal problems.

Hello,

My name is Daan and I am from Holland. You are my last hope to fix my Iphone 4s, 32 Gb.

The symtoms:

1) When inserting the SIMcard it takes a lot more time then usual to find a signal. After a few minutes it's there.

2) It's says it has full signal strength for a few minutes, then goes back to one dot, then searching again, then full signal and so on. To my opinion it's a repeating loop. During this loop no calls can be made or be received, no texts can be sent.

BUT on a very, very rare occasion a call is possible or a text comes in.

3) Internet signal is always GPRS, sometimes E for a short moment. I have never seen 3G. Still, browsing is never possible, it always says it's not connected to the internet.

4) I get Wifi only really close to the router. Even though it gets a full signal then, browsing is never possible, it always says it's not connected to the internet.

Things I've done so far:

1) Trying different good working SIMcards, I get the exact same symptoms. Put mine in a different Iphone, it's working properly. Also tried different locations in town.

2) Tried different good working antenna's. Replaced both the Wifi antenna and the one connected to the speaker.

3) Did a restore in DFU-mode and restored the network settings multiple times.

Thing I shouldn't have done:

There's a antenna-cable running on the backside of the logic board. Both ends are connected to the logic board. For some reason I unattached one contact point, only to find out it was secured with some kind of glue or something. Was that a mistake??

Please help. Thank you. Daan

It's ok to take out the antenna as long as you put it back properly. You've done a lot of good stuff but the problem still persisted.

I would have changed the wifi and cellular antenna but would also check the SIM card slot.

Maybe it's worth a try

Thank you for your reply.

Today I found out something important. It has something to do with enabling 3G. I guess the WiFi problem is a separate thing.

Enable 3G and signals is gone immediately. Disable 3G and the signal pops right back up. Within seconds.

Apparently I am not the only one with this problem. Found a lot of topics adressing the same problem. Only I could not find the fix for it.

Can anybody tell me the fix or link me to it?

Thanks
