Keeps switching to safe mode/turning off after a few hours or days?

My PS4 has an intermittent problem.

Keeps switching to safe mode - then I have to initialize it and reinstall software several times. It will them work for a but goes off after a few hours can even last a few days.

Will not always switch back on first time.

Did try a new HDD but machine would not detect it.

I have lost my receipt so here in the UK Sony will not honour the Guarantee

Any ideas please?
