DC-In Board cable ripped! Which cable is what?

I wanted to change my heat sink, and I accidentally ripped one of the DC Cable that go to the logic board, while screwing it back in. I already ordered a new one, but this will take a few days.

my question now is, will I break the macbook if I try running it this way? Or does it simply not work at all?

Its one of the lighter grey colored cables.

EDIT:

The grey cable is Ground, right? So does the Magsafe work with only one ground cable?

Wendel Fierce, yes they are both ground. They do connect together in the logic board circuitry. Not sure where you broke the cable, potentially you could solder it. From the schematic it would appear as if your DC-in board should still function and should connect with your Magsafe.

Cool, thx for the reply. I am still not sure, if I want to try it though, the new part should arrive wednesday. I will think about it, and maybe even try soldering it.

BTW its cut between the taped part and the board of the DC-In.

You could just solder it;-) Thank you for accepting my answer

I am not very good at soldering, and its rather tiny, so I am not sure. Maybe I just ry it and see how it looks.

Personally I would not run the computer with a cable ripped. But then again it is your computer and your choice. I would not risk it unless you still have applecare.

Apple care is long long gone. I am leaning towards waiting too. But wanted to check if anybody knows if it could work nevertheless.
