Dark screen but still readable

My iPhone 4s screen went super dark and unreadable unless you get the right angle on it and you can barely see it and i did the whole press home and lock button and that worked for 20 mins and then the same thing happen it stopped working any tips?

The only two things I can think of that might be the cause of the problem is either: the LCD screen is dead and needs to be replaced or a power cable between the display assembly and the phone.

Probably best to check the display assembly either way.
