No Playback Sound on 5G iPod

Went to play music this morning, and I get no sound. When I turn up the volume, I can hear the clicks through my earbuds, even the slight 'hiss' typical of the volume up too loud, and the amp pop when turning on/off.

I see the music playing on the screen, and can navigate the menus normally.

I tried hard (Click+Menu) and soft (Reset Settings) resets.

Is there another measure I can try, or is this a logic board issue?

Scott Kolesar, check your headphone port and make sure it is not stuck. Insert and remove the headphone a couple of times in succession. If that does not work you may want to consider changing it. Use these guides to work on your iPod. Worst case scenario, you are having issues with the audio IC. This particular model has a problem with an IC on the logic board. You can try and see if you get sounds by applying some pressure to the right lower side of the ipod, almost between the click wheel and the bottom corner. Here is a forum that explains that http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa... and check for a posting by IPOD_wrecker. If that is happening to you there are only a couple of options. New logic board fro about $50 on eBay and other places, reflow your old logic board or you can try what warnergt did on http://forums.macnn.com/103/ipod-iphone-... it is kind of crude but it does seem to work.
