MBP 15 Display. Voltage not reaching display from board? [with PIC]
I got my Macbook Pro A1286-i7 checked from a Laptop Service Center and the diagnosis report was something like this.
Because of waterlogging the voltage from the logic board is not reaching the display and also the display is damaged.
But I never had any kind of liquid go into my Macbook Pro. It merely fell down from a small height. No damage to the motherboard as the machine works with an external display after the impact but the screen died.
So now I want some advice from the experts here on iFixit.
Can something like this happen?
I am ready to replace the LCD screen but they are also asking me to replace the motherboard which shoots the price of the repair through the roof ($800).
Mind you that the machine works just fine with an external display.
Thinking of buying a LCD screen from and fit it in myself and see if the guys are right about the motherboard.
Kindly help me out on how to go about it.
Update: I also don't see the display listed in the About this Mac => Displays section. [pictures added]. Just the external display. What could have caused this?

Does the backlight work? Does the Apple on the backside glow?

nope, it doesn't glow. I think it won't glow unless the display is on (or working).
Am I right?

Hello Buco, what do you think? What could be the issue? And what is your suggestion?
