My iPhone 5s is dead after using a 3rd party cable?

Well, I bought an iPhone 5S three weeks ago but I broke the carger that goes with the phone. The cable worked 4 days so I bought a cheap cable (It wasn't actually cheap. I live in Venezuela and there aren't original cables in stores and even the cheap/3rd party ones are really expensive). It said "This accesory may not be supported" so I found a way to make it work, plug the cable into the iphone, turning off the phone and wait for it to charge. It charged like 30% or so and when it totally drained the phone won't charge at all. It doesn't even show the charging symbol so it's totally dead.

I read information in a lot of places- They told me to put the device in DFU mode... didn't work. I thought that the battery was so drained that I had to wait a whole day and wait it to charge... it didn't. A friend of mine with an iPhone 5 lend me her original cable, it didn't work. An iPhone 5C original cable didn't work either (which I guess it's the same lightning cable but it was worth the try)

So it doesn't charge even with original cables so it could be my lightning/headset port OR the battery. As you may know, there is not Apple Stores here either, only 3rd party repair stores but I'm afraid I lose my "warranty". So I drove 3 hours to the store I bought the iPhone and the seller told me I had to sent the phone via DHL to the company who brought the phone to my country (which isn't Apple). I don't want to since it scares me to never see my phone again.

I read somewhere I could be the "U2 IC chip" but I'm not sure either.

What can I do? What do you think it's exactly the problem?

I used a non-original Apple charger because it got lost. Instead I was using a Samsung Galaxy S4 my sister has. Anyway, I send the phone to the person who bought the phone to Apple so he will go to the Apple Store and ask for a repair/replacement. He told me that when he gets the phone, I will be recieving a mail from him in 2-3 days. He told me that if Apple decides to repair the phone or replace it, he will send me the phone back -If they don't, he will send me the damaged phone back anyway.

Seems like I just have to wait, but thanks you all for yours answers.

This does sound like U2 ic chip---it may be tough to find anyone with the expertise to repair this chip. I don't know of anyone in the US that does it, although there are several masters worldwide that do it regularly. If I were you, I'd order a new battery and see if that could solve, and then a new dock connector---both are reasonable to replace and may solve the problem. One feature of some U2 failures in the iPhone 5 is that it won't charge a stone dead battery, but can sometimes charge a battery with low percentage.

good luck!

Did you use a third party charger in addition to the third party cable? Or was it just a third party cable with the original Apple charger? I ask because as long as you were using the original Apple charger, there shouldn't be any damage to your phone's logic board. A big deal has been made lately about third party cables, but as long as you are using them with a real Apple charger, the cable can't really do any harm in and of itself since the cable is not responsible for voltage regulation. The only way I could see a third party cable doing harm in and of itself is if the size of the connector isn't up to spec and is too large for the port, causing damage to the port over time.

The best way is that you contact the nearest Apple Store and send the phone to them so you don't lose you'r warranty and probably they give you a new one.
