My MacBook Pro turns on, but has a black screen.
I have done the flashlight test. I shined a flashlight through the Apple logo and can see the login screen. I have reset the PRAM and the SMC to no avail. Not really sure what else to do. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! :D

pr7malone, "the LVDS cable end that plugs into the Logic board looks messed up at the connection." How about posting a couple of pictures and let us see what you see. It is entirely possible that this is your issue.

I tried everything, all of the above and then some. I happened to find someone saying "just enter your password on the black screen". Wow! It worked. I'm on a MacBook Pro 2015 running OS Sierra.

Awesome guys , I tried reloading operating OSX (at Apple support suggestion) and various system and hardware resets,shift-option-control-power, command-option-p-r.
I was on the phone to Apple support waiting then I came across this (type in your password and hit enter)
and it worked . Many thanks for posting spinaddj

I tried EVERY hack I could find online. Nothing worked. Then I stumbled on this page and saw the simple suggestion to enter my password again. Voila! You guys saved my life!!

Ash, what device and version of software are you using? Mine still does it (goes black) when the batt goes flat and I reboot but the password trick still works.
