iPhone doesn't wake up with home button. Only when plugged to AC.

I have an iphone 4 that suddenly started having problems.

When the screen is on everything works fine. But when the screen is off for a couple of minutes the screen won't turn on with the home button. I have to mention that the power button is broken so I can't use it to turn it on. I can only use the home button but the phone doesn't turn on. It's almost as if the phone was turned off.

If I plug it to the AC the screen turns on and I can use it fine again.

The phone doesn't power off. It simply doesn't unlock or recieve any kind of notifications. It only works when plugging it to the AC and then it wakes up again. This is such a problem while I'm outside because I can't do anything to wake it up.

Do you have any ideas of why this is happening and what I can do to troubleshoot it?

The only thing to try is a new home button your home button could be faulty if a new button dosent work then try a new charging port as that is were the home button gets it power from..

First try a restore just incase the software is buggy ..

If all there solutions don't work then I'm afraid it's a motherboard problem

First of all, the power button issue can be fixed and needs to be. Second, the home button also needs to be replaced. If you are not comfortable with ordering the parts and doing it yourself, then contact ICracked, who will put you in touch with a local tech, who is able to fix your phone. Don't keep putting up with a phone that only partially works.
