Fan speeds up when rear case is screwed down tight

Hi all

I have the strangest problem:

I recently brought a water damaged MacBook pro back to life and I've managed to get it all working HOWEVER, when I sit the MacBook on the desk the fan ramps up to 6000rpm and the Kernal_task starts going into over drive, yet when I tilt it forward or take the weight off the back of the case it slows down to 2000 and works perfectly.

I've noticed small spring loaded pins on the logic board which touch the bottom case when its screwed on, I believe these are "grounding pins"? although I could be wrong and would love someone to clarify?? I'm convinced it has something to do with these.

Either way, when I take the bottom case off and hold the laptop in my hands and turn it on then the fan stays at its normal speed and everything works fine. I've literally experimented with it 20 times by sitting it flat, then lift it 10mm up, then sit it flat and lift it up, the fan responds every time by going from 2000rpm to 6000rpm, 2000rpm to 6000rpm and so on. When I sit with the laptop constantly at an angle then I do not have the problem at all.

In addition; I'm not sure if its related but the WiFi keeps dropping out and will sometimes show "No WiFi hardware installed" even though it works now and again ... I've also tried SMC and PRAM resets.

Someone out there must know what's going on. I'm reluctantly running Mavericks.

P.S Its very easy to say: "the logic board is gone" but there must be something activating and deactivating this fault and I'm refusing to give up!

Please Help!

hey, your not going to believe this, but I know what the problem is. I did some serious troubleshooting and I fixed it.

if you want to know respond here and I will fill you it, you will never fiqure it out. I had the exact same symptoms, with the wifi going down, and the bluetooth going off.

i fixed mine and can tell you how to fix yours.

We share information here, we don't gloat about it or withhold it.

It's definitely the case touching or hitting something, I've still not solved it but after putting a small piece of cardboard on the battery to act as wedge preventing the case from pressing on the pins/board the machine works flawlessly, even with the case screwed on tight. I'm completely baffled. I even took the DVD drive apart, which was a nightmare to put back together but somehow still works and wasn't the culprit. The mystery continues.

It could be the wifi cable that goes between the fan and DVD drive. If it is wedged between the two it can cause the Macbook to lose recognition of the wifi. I moved it out slightly and now I can get the wifi to work. The problem now is that the fan runs constantly and it slows down the computer.
