power cable socket broke off logic board

I was following your repair guide and reached the step to remove the white plastic upper case (step 27, iBook G4 14" 1.42 GHz Logic Board Replacement). Despite your warnings and my gentle touch, the socket for the power cable came off the logic board BEFORE the male plug for the blue and white wires came out of the female socket. Is there any way to fix this?

If the logic board is otherwise ruined, I'd be willing to try to re-solder the broken socket or a replacement onto it -- after all, what do I have to lose? Do you sell or know where I can purchase a similar socket or a similar male/female socket set?

Of course, if my attempts fail, I'll simply buy a replacement logic board from you! Thanks for your help.

Thanks for the fast and complete answers! I somehow missed Answer 11119 in my research. Lemerise, extra thanks for the soldering iron info and purchasing link! Any advice on the specific solder to use? Much has changed since my "HeathKit" days...

I'll post my results after I attempt the fix, but it will probably take a week to get the tools.

If you still have the power switch socket and use a pencil-thin soldering iron like the Weller WM120 you can solder back the socket on the logic board. There are 4 mini solders to do: 2 for the socket retainers and two for power contact points. It would be easier to do the soldering job if the logic board is removed from the case.
