My iBook g4 will not start when on the ac adaptor , but will on battery alone . here is the problem when i plug in the adaptor by itself thering is green but iBook will not start when i put battery in the ring turns yellow /orange and still will not start do I need a new dc board?

Or it could be your DC in board. You can find out how many cycles are on a battery by using System Profiler and choosing POWER you can also see if it's charging.
The charger could not be putting out enough current to run the computer, certainly not enough to run the computer and charge the battery, but enough to charge the battery when the machine is off... a short in the DC board could present the same.

go to apple store put a new battery in if they have one u can barrow plug into there charger if doesn't work than its your dc in I just replaced mine now it works great.
