Do I need to replace my keyboard?

I had to order a new esc key. When it came, it shipped with the cap, hinge and rubber cup. I thought that meant the old rubber cup could be removed. So I pulled the old one out. Is there any hope of repairing the one key?

If not, I know where I can get a replacement keyboard for $80, which is way better than $850 for the entire assembly. My only concern would then be getting the new keyboard in, while leaving my AppleCare intact.

Edit: It occurs to me that a picture of the damage would help assess whether or not I'm going to have to gut my laptop. Or pay $$$ I don't have for a pro to do it.

I'm trying this stuff as adhesive to glue the cup back on. I'm having trouble with finding a way to keep it in place for thirty minutes though.

So far just having the key cap and hinge attached with the cup activates the contact, making the computer think the key is constantly held down.

Edit 2: I can't figure out how to get some paragraphs to go between images to make it more clear which image I'm referring to.

I still have the rubber cup, so I believe the only hope is to glue it back on. I've read that Krazy glue won't work, but what will?

I'm thinking the cup I lost was the original, and I've been trying to get the cup that came with the key I ordered to go in. I don't think there's any hope of restoring the key to it's original feeling.

I could leave it like it is and deal with it, but I'm afraid that I could have the computer in for repair for another issue, and they void my AppleCare. But I'm guessing attempting to replace the whole thing myself is more likely to void it?

A little dab of elmers worked for me. Try that.

The white glue that I only thought was good for wood or paper? I hope I can find it in small quantities, as I'm reading that basically nothing sticks to silicone except silicone.

I'm thinking this: http://www.itwconsumer.com/devcon-produc... But where can I find some in Toronto, or a similar product?
