Can an iPad screen spontaneously crack after replacement?

I work at a computer repair shop, we do heaps of iPad screen replacements. Have had a customer come back after having their screen replaced. They claim they left it on a table and came back a couple hours later to a cracked screen. Has anyone else had this issue? Trying to work out if the customer dropped it and is lying to me.

Lauren Curry, had something similar happen due to some stress from the case. As a business person I would suggest that you take the customers word for it. Lets face it, there are always three sides to any story., theirs, yours and then the real story. Does one really want to lo lose customers of this. I'd think the smart thing to do is to replace it once more. Just my 2cents.

It also happened to me. Right after I had it fixed by and I did not drop it. It was in my purse (I've carried it in there for 4 years and never had a break), and I opened my purse to get my phone and I found it cracked again. I think these shops are using materials that are cheap (probably from China) and it breaks immediately regardless of what you do or how careful you are. These phones cost so much, they should last longer and be more durable.

I had the same problem. I had my screen replaced. I took it from the shop. It has a strong cover. After four days I left it on the table went for three minutes went and saw the screen cracked. The case haa a hard cover. After it cracked it never respond. The screen freeze.

It is possible in theory.

The glass may be improperly made so internal tension is not balanced, or the case is slightly bent or installation was off so the glass is taking too much stress. Or all above happened at the same time.

It is very rare, though. Apple warrants single fracture on the glass, no questions asked.

It’s not rare,it’s called a bent housing.

And then there’s temperature fluctuation cracks as well.

My husband suffered the same loss today, our issue with Apple's are the screen is the most likely part to be damaged. Normally when you break something, you go out and by a new one. But in this case, Apple charges so much is because they are NOT replacing the screen, they are replacing the device…we also don’t get any solution for this problem can anybody help???

With iPads always get AppleCare for $69 each repair is $49.00.

And you’re right they only offer something called an out of warranty replacement where you trade in and pay. This is not useful for a cracked screen though because it’s a ripoff your better off WAYYYY better off selling the cracked one and buying another you will save a lot$$$

The only time that out of warranty replacement is a good bet is when you have a dead device.

You can literally crush an iPad with a truck roll it up like a joint and trade it in lol

Was this after a repair?

It’s because the body is slightly bent don’t believe me?

Put it on a flat surface and look for a variation in the structure youll see it if not the glass was overheated during the adhesion process.

Basically.

This happened to me as well. I had an iPhone 6 screen replaced last week and no problems in the first two days. The third day I left it in the passenger seat of my car for a road trip and checked it about an hour into the trip and found several deep breaks in the glass coming from the top corner that were not there at the beginning of the trip and it had not been dropped. It made me wonder if replacement glass isn't the same quality as the original screen or if installation made the screens prone to breaking without contact.

Shysters using cheap materials and then blaming the customer. '

Yes same thing happened to my sons iPad screens. We got it repaired the first time, and then he said cracks appeared across screen 2 days later. It kept getting worse until unusable. Got it fixed and then it happened again a few weeks but worse, and no usable touchscreen. Now about to take it for third round. Nuts.

Same thing happened to me. Had my screen on IPhone 7 replaced under a warranty. A couple of days after, I noticed a hairline crack in the screen. I didn’t drop it or put any pressure on it. Had basic usage- in and out of purse.

I just bought an iPad Pro refurbished on Amazon and 3 months later a moon shaped crack appeared on the right corner of my screen. No impact points…its under the glass screen protector I bought. There was nothing wrong with it this morning. I was playing pokemon go on it for 4 hrs and looked up and noticed it just appeared. It's very noticeable. I had it in my lap the entire time and am shocked and disappointed in the quality that something like this could even happen.

Same thing happened to me, brand new ipad Air2, left it on the bookshelf 'flat' next evening picked it up and there was an elliptical crack in the left hand corner, started just to the left of the button and finished 70mm up on the left hand side. I examined the bottom edge of the glass with a jewellers lupe and it was far from smooth, lots of tiny nicks, I reckon its a design fault, I've heard other people have had exactly the same problem !
