I have an old 2006 black macbook 13" that has a core duo processor which can't go any higher than 10.6.8. I am maxed out on OS options with this device.
Is a 2009 macbook motherboard compatible with my computer so to be able to upgrade my old macbook?

You may be able to go to the 2.4 Ghz 661-4709 without a problem.

How likely do you think that, that motherboard will be compatible with my laptop? Do you have any references or is it maybe personal experience?
You look in the parts catalogue for compatible parts... generally as long as you stay in the model year they fit. Where you have problems is trying to jump years... screw holes and other ports just don't line up.
Click on the "solutions" tab and do a search for "upgrades", then try "logic". You will find the previous questions on this issue.
