Digitizer not cracked, touch not working.

Hello everyone!

My brother just gave me his iPad 3g because the touch sensor quit working in it. I am trying to figure out if I should buy a replacement digitizer, or if I need to just scrap it.

The digitizer was never cracked, and he's not sure it was dropped or anything. (though it is possible it was dropped, as he has 3 kids.)

The digitizer connector seems to be fine, and nothing looks damaged. Is this likely to be fixed with a new digitizer, or is it a problem on the logic board?
