You don't. You sell it for parts. iCloud lock is very effective at keeping the stolen iDevice market at bay.

That would make them an after the fact accessory to theft and possibly face criminal charges.
That may be true if there was a way to identify the original owner of an iCloud locked device, but there is not. I'm a layperson for matters of law, but I believe that as long as you make a reasonable attempt to find the owner of lost/stolen property that you have no other legal responsibility. It is the original owners's responsibility to put the iPod touch in "lost mode" and provide contact information. If this was not done, then there is no reasonable method of finding the original owner. Assuming the eBay seller is also not able to find the original owner, e.g. a wholesaler, then this iPod would be like so many others----a collection of perfectly functional parts with no owner. The choice of whether or not to simply throw the device away vs sell it for parts is an environmental question now.
well, there is a little hack you can do that gives you limited access to your apple device. if you are not in the US then scroll all the way down there is the united states option, select that as your country. If you are connected to your wifi, disconnect, then hold down the home button as if you are asking for siri, instead of siri, a "more wifi setting" option will pop up, tap it and you will see little information option besides the wifi network, press the info button next to your network and go to your DNS and type 104.154.51.7 then log in to your network and as soon it says "activating device" quickly press "back". you will see a window pop up and scroll down to menu. once in the menu you will have access to the internet, chat rooms, and a few stupid games. There is more, but I dont think I should list them all, as that would take up too much of my time.
sorry if the instructions are unclear.
Activation Lock may be very useful at keeping stolen devices off the market but it's ineffective at letting people who thought they were buying a legitimate apple device from actually using it. However, activation lock is very useful at filling up landfills with otherwise useful mobile devices.
Agreed. I've had several come up missing over the years. Browsing offerup, and letgo will show that people have no qualms about stealing an iPhone. They just resell it to unwitting people the next day. I even had a guy give me a 7+ as trade when he couldn't pay my fee after a job. He just said to pay it off ($120) and make my percentage of the monthly service bill (had a family). I went he next day and slid $1po into the kiosk, along with $50 towards the bill. Next day? Woke up to find myself with a blacklisted iPhone. I'd paid it off alright....his families phone bill.
If you performed an actual full reset on the device, there would not be any Apple ID associated with it. What method did you use to reset it?
I would advise that you start by contacting the original owner and asking them to meet with you and sign out of the device. If they were, in fact, the legitimate owner they should be willing to do that.

This doesn't make sense. Your method of receiving the item could be result of a long distance transaction. This concept is ideally impossible in this regard. No one is going to send personal information as that over mail let alone take a trip just to put in a screen name and password.
The thing is that my second hand iPod 5th generation, I put in my Apple ID. It told me that it was an incorrect Apple ID.
Actually there could be although it's unlikely someone could have an iCloud device with a password remove the Fmi from the phone and it would look and sell as an iCloud off working device sense there is now no way to check the serial number it would pass as no iCloud until you reset and it becomes locked
I bought a used ipod touch 5th gen off ebay but it has a icloud lock I don't know his AppleID: or Password: and he is no longer available to communicate with. How do I bypass all this so I can use it? He also has Find My Iphone turned ON but I don't even know that info. Ipod touch is useless right now.
you can crack it and delet the lock plist and it will never lock again because it willbe missing the section in software . need to jailbreak it and ssh into the file system to do this . simple for a hacker . i bough 10 locked ipod 5 touch all locked and all unlocked and sold for 500% profit

Although this may be possible it also may have programs in it that will scam your computer be careful with this one
Please how do I do this? I bought an ipod 5 on EBay but the seller didn't tell me it has icloud locked,
Daniel, Did the eBay seller lie by omission? Did you ask? Did the listing say it was unlocked? Contact the seller for a refund and then ebay if you don't get anywhere with them. If the price was too good to be true or if the listing say parts only, you are out of luck. Live and learn. Be more careful next time.
can you decrypt the lock plist and get a previous passcode on a reset icloud locked ipod
I put my locked device on top of a pile of papers that I didn't want blowing around. Presto!!! Paper doesn't move now

If it's iOS 7 you have a brick on your hands unless the previous owner signs in and deactivates the security lock.

You cant. If in activation mode the only way to get it unlocked is to call the previous owner

does this really work?
No, doesn't work, Apple security is one of the best!
No it doesn't
I tried restoring it with a downloaded IPSW for my iPod Touch 5g... It needs my uncle's account that was signed in recently and was unverified... PS: My iPod Touch 5g was from my uncle that was brought from UK...
Wow.. this doesn't even make sense. Resetting isn't gonna do anything. The only way to fix it is by hacking Apple servers and removing the unique code that your device has. My point is it's not the device that's locked it's on the server that locks it
I bought an Ipod 6 off EBAY. Person said it was checked over and it is usable but it is also sold as is. It looks like mine is a brick. I didnt know I needed the username and password. I tried to do a factory restore and Im stuck at username and password. Any hack programs I could use?

Nope. Apple is Apple and they take security very seriously... Which obviously isn't a bad thing but to a certain degree it could be for some..... If they said it was iCloud locked on the listing it's yours now... HOWEVER if they didn't say that, you have the right to return it and get your money back for something that's gonna be useless and not as described
try to create a new one by reseting settings and signing out of the apple id.

Also that will not work!
Indeed you need the OLD password to REMOVE the old password.

Sadly, there is no way to do this for free. However, you can have appleiphoneunlock.uk unlock it for a small fee of $27.
Hope this helps.

No it does t they just scam you for more money and still dont do anything
There is also the avenue of a third party DNS when setting up from a new device reset. Would give you an odd partial functionality. Google will enlighten using the keywords in this comment

From my understanding if you have a 5th gen or later there are only a limited number of ways to get back into the device.
Besides the methods listed above there is no other way to remove the account lock. Number 8 is the least likely to succeed and even if it did, you'd probably have been able to buy 3 new devices by the time you found a legit unlocker. Anyway, Those are the only ways I know of regarding the ability to bypass an account an iPod has been locked to. Even if you have access to the device but it has someone else's account on it you need their password to iCloud to remove it, Though if you can jailbreak it you can bypass the account lock. But if the jailbreak goes wrong and you mess up the OS to the point of not booting anymore and have to reinstall the OS then you will have to login to the registered account. I you have access to using the iPod just don't update anything or connect it to your own iTunes which will gladly update or reset the device to your iTunes or account but doesn't tell you that you first have to login to the old account first after it's been reset even if you use shift to specify an older iOS ipsw file.
Hope this clears things up for anyone I tried to be as comprehensive as I could and it is possible there is a new way to get past the account lock but from my experience bypassing such things via exploiting a software vulnerability has only gotten harder as time has gone by and Apple has patched those flaws.
Oh and one widely posted hack is to dial some number like 412 or similar then to quickly press home. Dialing 412 is equivalent to dialing 911 in Sweden or someplace and dials 911 here in North America. In fact dialing any countries 911 equivalent automatically dials 911 for anyone needing emergency help that doesn't know it's a different number here. Although this is more a practical joke played on those trying to unlock an iPhone through some oddball quirk. It has differing quirky steps depending on the creator and sucks desperate people in or those who know sometimes such weirdness has worked like with androids google lock being able to be bypassed by tapping on the web link to the privacy rules that used to open the chrome browser before setup was completed properly where you could then login to your own google account and it would associate with the device when you went through setup again. Anyway I could prattle on for hours about the subject

My friend and I bought a second hand iPod touch 5th generation and I am trying to get into the iPod with my Apple ID and it won't work. I'm in a network, I'm trying to activate it and I put in my Apple ID and password, it keeps on saying; that the Apple ID or password won't activate it. I REALLY want to connect the iPod to iTunes. Should I connect 2 iTunes????
