Why is my new battery already requiring service?
I have replaced my battery in the beginning of this month for the first time. My original battery worked well for 3 years before requiring service. In the first two I played Minecraft on it with no problems, in the last one I played a lot of Football Manager. I think that abused the battery a bit. I still used it after the "Service Battery" message appeared for about 4 months with no issues other than shorter battery life.
Not the same happened with the replacement I got from iFixit though. I had a lot of trouble after installing it, from clicking noises to random shutdowns and the battery not being recongnized at all. Also, it never charged up to 100%, only 98%. After reinstalling it a couple of times It seemed to work well for maybe a couple of weeks (despite the odd clicking noise now and then) and now it is giving me trouble again, showing the "Service Battery" message, randomly showing 0% charge when it actually has like 40% (it sometimes goes back to 40%, other times just shuts down). Today it stopped working completely and isn't recognized by my Mac.
I swapped over to my old battery and am having no issue other than the "Service Battery" message. Should I return my battery? is it possible to do so, since I have used it for quite a bit?
In the last week I have played quite a bit of FM, depleting the battery around 2 times per day. I know this is a lot, but I did the same with the original battery and it never pulled any of these tricks on me.
What do you think I should do? Is the problem mine and should I just keep my original battery, was the replacement defective and should I get a new one?
Thanks in advance.
