Apple logo looping after Screen replacement. Any ideas?

Hi there,

I've been reparing phones for quite a while now with close to no incidents.

Today a customer came in with an iPhone 5 which needed it's screen replaced. Quick job normally.

After turning the phone off and opening the phone, I disconnected the battery and procceded with my normal repair procedure.

After replacing the screen and putting the phone back together, I started it up and noticed that it got stuck on a continues loop of the apple logo = rebooting itself.

Searched around and found that this has been encountered befor, but mainly related to water damage which this phone doesn't have.

I've replaced the battery, started the phone in DFU. But I get to the point where iTunes needs to reboot the phone to start the recovery at which point it get's stuck in the logo loop.

Anyone encountered this befor and got a solution to my dilemma? :)

The only solution that I've seen for this is to use Tiny Umbrella to force it to restore. I've never had to do this myself, but I've spoken to several people who have.

After several hours of debugging and testing. We finally found the problem which resolved the situation...

There was a faulty connector on the screen which resultet in a short circuit. Changing screens and applying the new one sorted our problem.

But this didn't strike us until we'ed done a full logic board clean changed battery and docking station etc...

Thanks for the contribution :)

Similar issue after a screen replacement. Original screen was replaced but the issue remained. The apple logo keeps looping. The phone was dropped so wondering if other damage was caused. Any ideas? Will try and disconnect the battery to see if this helps.

Mine did the same thing, loop blue screen. It was the last cable that I connected from the digitizer, it seemed that it snapped together but it was actually "snapped" outside the connector.

Once I reconnected and made sure it was in the right place, problem solved, hope it helps.

I had the same problem. I actually continued to use the phone with the top left of the screen damaged from dropping. After installing new screen/digitaizer assembly I got stuck at the boot logo. While troubleshooting I found that the phone would boot normally & even operate so long as the new assembly wasn't completely flush or seated with the frame. I then narrowed it down to the top left portion of the phone that was causing the boot loop the second I seated it down in the frame. Looking further into the components housed there I noticed slight damage to the ...gyrometer?..little sensor with a half moon shaped weight on the end of a rod that moved when the phone was tilted up or down. After disconnecting & completely removing it all is well. I assume this was the actual damaged component that pushed out & broke the screen when dropped & when trying to seat a new screen that didn't have the "give" of the broken one it cause a short of some. I would suggest isolating any components near where the screen was first broken & replacing if phone boots when disconnected. Usually be on the corners or around the cameras or charging ports. My phone no longer "flips" the screen when tilted, but at least it's working fine other than that. Hope this helps. T7
