after replacing the screen on an iphone 4s when plugging the battery in with the grounding clip in place the phone will not power on, but when i remove this clip the phone powers on but no signal is found.
Please help

Sounds to me the clip isn't positioned correctly and the battery connection pops up.(I've had this issue myself) For the signal, you may have damaged the antenna female connection or the male. Look very closely at the connector and see if there is any breaks at all. Hope this helps!!
